LG has been teasing its upcoming Optimus G smartphone for weeks and now we finally have the full specs and it appears to be renamed the Optimus G Lightning. When it arrives in Korea next month it will be the first with LTE mounted to a quad-core CPU, thanks to the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 at its center. The display is also groundbreaking, featuring LG's fully integrated touch technology, sounds like it's new in-cell touch to us, for a thinner screen and bezel. It's a True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD, and LG claims when it's turned off the 3mm bezel and body of the phone match the screen when it's turned off. Just the leaks indicated, it also has 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 2,100mAh battery, all while measuring only 8mm thick.
The only bad news so far? It will arrive in Korea next month (and on NTT Docomo in October or November as the L-01E in black and red, seen after the break) with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not Jelly Bean. The software will be as we've seen on other high-powered LG units like the Optimus Vu, with the addition of a "live zoom" feature on video and Dual Screen Dual Play mirroring for external displays. The real triumph for LG however, is its ability to vertically integrate technology from its various units to create the device. LG Chem provided a battery that is the first to offer a lifespan of 800 cycles, while LG Display created the screen and partnered with LG Innotek on the G2 Touch Hybrid Display unibody tech that eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel. A worldwide launch is promised later in the year, although we'd expect to hear more soon at IFA 2012.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) ? Afghan officials say Taliban insurgents have beheaded 17 Afghan civilians for taking part in a music event in a Taliban-controlled area of southern Afghanistan.
The Interior Ministry says the attack happened Sunday in Helmand province and that gunfire was also involved.
Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi says the attack happened in Musa Qala district. Ahmadi says all of the victims had their heads chopped off. He says it was not clear if they were shot first.
The Musa Qala government chief says the people had gathered for a celebration and were playing music and dancing and the insurgents wanted to stop the event. Neyamatullah Khan says the area where the slaughter took place is completely in Taliban control and so he does not have more details yet.

I had a won?der?ful 10 day cre?ative break and now it?s back to dead?lines, work?shops and trav?el?ing. I love doing what I do but must admit this short break was nice and just what I needed. I pretty much work 7 days a week and some?times feel like my head will explode. Dri?ving with mom and dad to West Vir?ginia was as fun as dri?ving 21 hours can be, we had lots of laughs and enjoyed a lit?tle antique shop?ping along the way. I found some true vin?tage trea?sures for sure and can?not wait to share pho?tos my?finds.
One thing I was really happy about get?ting to do on our way home was stop and visit ?The Scrap?book Page? in Bar?boursville, WV. Max?ine Hodges has a won?der?ful store. If you are near or even an hour or two away it is well worth the drive. She has lots of cur?rent prod?uct and every?one there is super friendly. I had such a fun time help?ing every?one cre?ate an altered tag and sign my book ?Delight In The Sea?sons?. It was a nice steady flow of funny ladies and I hope I get to visit again, next?year.
Now that I?m home I will once again share tuto?ri?als on my blog and be cre?at?ing like a mad woman to meet my first book dead?line which is quickly approach?ing for book #3. I?m so excited about this book I can hardly con?tain myself.

Researchers at Stony Brook University in New York examined the neural correlates of intense, long-term love using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in 10 women and seven men. fMRI measures brain activity as a function of changes in blood flow. The participants, married an average of 21 years, underwent imaging while viewing either an image of their partner's face, or a familiar acquaintance.
Compared to viewing the acquaintance, areas specifically activated when viewing their spouse included:
? Regions of the dopamine-rich reward system, including the ventral tegmental area (VTA), dorsal striatum, and basal ganglia?areas that, interestingly, are implicated in early-stage passionate love. This "pleasure center," lead researcher Lucy Brown explains, "helps us recognize when something feels good."
? Regions implicated in maternal attachment, including: globus pallidus (GP), substantia nigra (SN), Raphe nucleus, thalamus, and insula.
Co-author Arthur Aron notes, "Intense passionate love uses the same system in the brain that gets activated when a person is addicted to drugs."
Adds Brown, "You can feel happy in love, but you can also feel anxious. The other person becomes a goal in life." A craving, an obsession. A feel-good sensation. Sounds like drug-taking behavior to me!Love is perhaps one of the strongest of the human emotions, and we have long-known that animals' brains are wired to choose a mate, perhaps going to extremes for attention and affection. The 19th annual Austin Film Festival & Conference, running October 18-25, 2012 in Austin, TX, has announced an early look at its 2012 lineup. The selections from the programming include Robert Zemeckis? Austin Film Festival & Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing writers? and filmmakers? contributions to film, television and new media, announced today the first 10 films included in the 2012 lineup of Festival film screenings October 18-25. Also announced is this year?s Outstanding Television Writer Award recipient, ?The X-Files? creator Chris Carter. Carter will receive the award at the Festival?s annual Awards Luncheon held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2012 at the Austin Club.
