Your profile represents you in the online dating world.
Online dating does not have the automatic level of trust that traditional methods have. Couples set up by friends or those that meet in person have a kind of screening process. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder or in the case of online dating profiles in the eyes of the writer. The author has the ability to shade their profile in any light they want. They can disclose or not the details of their life. Pictures can be outdated or crafted to hide things.
The pictures are great. You have everything in common. ?This is it? is your first reaction. You write a witty and interesting email and it goes unanswered. What now? You get down on yourself and think you are undesirable. Don?t fall into this trap. Emails are not returned for many reasons.
Profiles are autobiographies where you choose your own artwork. That are a reflection of what you think you are - not how you appear to others. Realize this when reading profiles and look at pictures. You can get a general idea of what a person is about but not a true vision of the person. Profiles with rants and raves I will ignore , no matter what they look like. Otherwise give it a shot. You cannot afford to be too selective in profiles either from someone?s looks or their words. There are miles to go before you meet them - don?t limit your options.
Photos often have red flags in them be cautious when you see them and avoid them in your own:
No hats
A full body shot. You are what you are, don?t be ashamed.
Kids have no place in this world. Crop them out or don?t use pictures with them.
A good smile
Pictures taken with phones are distorted and show a lack of effort.
Be conservative with your dress. Wear clothes.
Be careful using old pictures. Your new pictures won?t look as good in comparison and you don?t look like that anymore.
Lies are bad for business. Your age will be discovered sooner or later. Many people think they look younger than they are - some do - many don?t. Let your pictures and profile speak for themselves. Research has shown that milestone birthdays (40, 50 & 60) have many more users saying they are younger. Some claim this is for searches, but this never works. First you are letting other people search for you where you should be searching for others. Second, when they find out it will not go well and possibly end a relationship.
