Dear Department of Fish and Game, I?d like to propose a new stop on your trout stocking route.

Nestled among the houses of a quiet residential neighborhood, the beautiful Hacksbury Pond is one of the premier fishing destinations in Eastern Iowa. And I would say that even if it wasn?t in my own backyard, and even if I didn?t dig it myself.

By no means an ?expert?s only? arena, Hacksbury is ideal for recreational fishermen who enjoy the social aspects of the sport, because, with its small size, a fisherman on one shore can hold an easily audible conversation with another fisherman on the opposite shore. In fact, people are already flocking to the pond to cast their lines into its murky depths. Now, it?s up to you to provide the missing link: fish.

As is the case with most man-made bodies of water, fish do not just appear when you put your shovel to the earth, dig a hole that takes up most of your backyard, line it with a tarp, and then run a garden hose until it?s full. But just because it?s artificial, doesn?t mean Hacksbury is undeserving of trout. In fact, you could even argue it is more deserving, because unlike natural ponds, it never had a chance.

I truly hope you?ll consider my request. And to show my appreciation for what I?m sure will be a favorable response to this letter, I?ve included a Shimano Citica E Cast Reel. It is a highly refined reel that?s small in size, but big in line capacity. Moreover, thanks to its famous VBS system and upgraded dartanium drag, I can ensure you will find it more than comfortable to work with, even when you?ve got a real fighter on the line.
